Kosovo Minister: If I was to be asked, the Swiss Ambassador would be expelled

Kosovo Minister of Infrastructure, Pal Lekaj, appearing in T7’s program Pressing on Thursday called as unacceptable the statement of the Swiss Ambassador to Kosovo, Jean-Hubert Lebet, who said Wednesday that, “it is not normal for my country to finance a water supply project, whereas Kosovo authorities spend the budget on paying [pensions] to fake veterans.” Lekaj even said that if he was to be asked the Swiss Ambassador would be expelled for his statements.

Swiss Ambassador to Kosovo, Jean-Hubert Lebet, slammed authorities on Wednesday while inaugurating a water supply project in Skenderaj municipality, saying that it is not normal for his country to finance projects, whereas authorities spend the budget on paying pensions to fake veterans. The Minister of Infrastructure, Pal Lekaj, who attended the ceremony in Skenderaj, told T7 that the statement the of Swiss Ambassador on Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA) veterans is unacceptable. He went further saying that Ambassador Lebet would be expelled if he was to be asked on his mission. “An ambassador should not deal with such issues. It is meaningless making a link of an investment with such a sensitive issue, such as war veterans. If I was to be take a decision, I would expel him immediately” Gazeta Express quotes Lekaj as saying. Minister Lekaj, who is member of the Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj’s party – the AAK, said he felt insulted with the Ambassador’s remarks on corruption.
